Some people have the idea that only a select few are lucky enough to have a steady flow of creative genius. That is not true in the slightest. Creativity is like a muscle that needs to be exercised in order to constantly give out excellent results. You must practice to harness creative thinking; if not this skill will shrivel into inexistence. Keep working and this skill will soon grow strong and come to you naturally everyday.

So how do you set your creative thinking free? The first thing is to treat your mind like a sponge will increase creativity. You should take in as much knowledge and try to learn something new everyday. Read whenever you get a chance whether it’s good or bad. Keep your mind open to the infinite possibilities of the world around you.

To Increase Creativity, The more you learn, the more you’ll want to learn and the more your intelligence and mental faculties will be exercised. Keep absorbing information and prepare to be surprised at little facts that insert a bit of color into your life.

Focus on creative activities everyday. Increasing creativity does take some effort. Even simple doodling is a creative activity. Don’t let laziness hamper your desire for improvement. Watching less television would be a positive step forward. Get off the couch and take a walk, even a little exercise helps you think. Go to the public library and take out a few books. Yes, you can find everything you need online but nothing beats thumbing through a real book. This is important to know to increase creativity.

Keeping a journal is another good way of increasing creativity. Let the thoughts flow, don’t worry about grammar, punctuation or even if what you write makes sense. Just fill the pages with the words that come to your mind. As well as keeping a journal, carry a small notebook wherever you go because it has been said that everyone has million dollar ideas on an average of four times a year.

Do something new everyday, these experiences will expand your perspective. Explore a new region in your neighborhood. Get out there without a destination and you’ll never know where you will end up. Maybe you’ll discover a museum to which you’ve never been before. Open up to the world around you and try talking to new people. Your old habits are why you are in a rut right now.

Move yourself out of your comfort zone a little more each day, if you allow your sense of adventure to grow and so will your zest for life. When was the last time you experienced something for the first time? If you can’t remember you have lost out on experiences that could have changed your life and added to your personal growth, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. Remember: if you are bored you are boring to be with. The more experiences you have, the more you will have to talk about and you will no longer be bored or boring.

If you embrace insanity you embrace creativity so be insane but not to the point where you will be forced into a straight jacket. A great quote by John Russell is “Sanity calms, but madness is more interesting.” Precisely! Every creative idea at some point was considered insane by so-called “normal” people. Fortunately, normal people can’t stifle creative genius from flowing from the human race. This includes the bizarre and the strange. Just think of P.T. Barnum, he grasped the bizarre and strange and went down in history doing so.

Also, getting into the right state of mind will get those creative juices flowing easier. Sometimes, writers get writers block which is just a bad state of mind that blocks creativity from flowing free. Sometimes breaking that block can be tough. Maybe it is time to believe that there are things in this world and universe that are bigger then ourselves. The power of the mind is incredible. It is possible to alter your state of mind with brainwave entrainment. People have successfully completed amazing tasks by simply listening to soundwaves designed to alter your mind.
